Stoplight Progression - Ohio Heat (12”x12” edition of 10)
This is the other image included in the 27th American Photography annual book, also a very long exposure on medium format film with a twin lens reflex. Since I used a digital camera to take test shots, I had to calculate the progressive film reciprocity failure as exposures stretched to ~ 30 seconds. For those not aware, the longer film is exposed to light the less sensitive it is to additional light - digital cameras do not have this failure and the curve of reciprocity is basically a straight 45 degree angle on the time/light axis. Anyways! I was lucky enough to catch the traffic light changing in the middle of this exposure, and though I’ve seen it done more cleanly by others I was really happy with the way this turned out.
